"Getting Ready"

This week our students have been getting ready for the Terra Nova Tests. The students will be taking practice tests and activities. The Terra Nova Tests are valuable tools in assessing our students.

"Stations of the Cross"

Today the students of Hillside Catholic Academy will pray the Stations of the Cross. This tradition was begun by St. Francis of Assisi and recreates the Passion of Jesus Christ.

"Ash Wednesday"

Today Hillside Catholic Academy will celebrate Ash Wednesday. The students in grades 1-8 will attend 8:00 a.m. mass at Christ the King Church. They will receive ashes. This is the start of the holy season of Lent.

"Fat Tuesday"

Today Hillside Catholic Academy will celebrate, "Fat Tuesday." The students will have a "dress down day" and class parties in the afternoon. Tomorrow the school will begin the solemn season of Lent.

"Professional Development"

After two days off because of the snow the faculty returns today. They will spend a day working on the Middle States Report. Hillside Catholic Academy will be closed on Monday February 15 in honor of President's Day.

"Holy Childhood Assembly"

Today Hillside Catholic Academy will be visited by Sr. Arlene from the Holy Childhood Missions. Hillside Catholic Academy will take part in the collecting money for the Holy Childhood Missions during the month of Lent.

"Closing Liturgy"

Today Hillside Catholic Academy will close our Catholic School Week celebration. The Most Rev. Dominic Marconi will celebrate our First Friday Mass. He will be the main celebrant. The pastors of Christ the King and St. Catherine of Sienna parishes will be the concelebrants. Following the liturgy the students who achieved Honor Roll status will receive their certificates.

"Spirit Day and Pep Rally"

Today is Spirit Day at Hillside Catholic Academy. The students are allowed to dress down in the school colors of green and gold. In the afternoon the Pep Rally will take place.

Today the students of Hillside Catholic Academy had their throats blessed. This was in honor of St. Blaise.

"Career Assembly"

Today Grades 5,6,7,8 will take part in a Career Day Assembly. Four speakers will discuss the role Catholic schools have played in shaping their lives. They will also speak about their careers and field questions. These presentations will show the 'Dividends For Life' provided by our Catholic schools.

"Dividends For Life"

Today Hillside Catholic Academy will continue our celebration of Catholic School Week. The theme of this year is, "Catholic Schools Providing Dividends For Life." We will set the theme of the week with our morning assembly. Students will read poems, speeches, and other inspirational quotes. Later this afternoon the students will be treated to ice cream sundaes.
