"Home and School Contract"

Each family at Hillside Catholic Academy is expected to work on one event during the school year. Examples of these are the following;
Grade 8 School Picnic
Grade 7 Halloween Dance
Grade 1 Halloween Party
Grades 2/5 Craft Fair

Our Home and School President conducts meetings so that everyone knows waht they are expected to do.

The role of the parents is an important part of the, "quailty education in a faith based environment," that is at Hillside Catholic Academy.

"Union Catholic Day"

On Thursday September 25 the Grade 8 students of Hillside Catholic Academy visited Union Catholic Regional High School. This is an annual day held at that high school. The students learned about the elements of leadership. They also got a chance to see the school. This day is part of the, "quality education," provided by Hillside Catholic Academy.

"Daily Mass"

Hillside Catholic Academy prides intself on providing, "A quality education in a faith based environment." To accomplish this goal one day a week Grades 4,5, 6, 7, and 8 attend the 8:00 a.m. Mass at Christ the King Church one day per week.
The schedule is as follows;

Monday Grade 7
Tuesday Grade 4
Wednesday Grade 6
Thursday Grade 5
Friday Grade 8

This is an important part of the Hillside Catholic Academy experience.

"High School Fair"

Last night Hillside Catholic Academy conducted it's Fifth Annual High School Fair. The following Catholic high schools made presentations;

Benedictine Academy
Christ the King Prep
Hudson Catholic Regional High School
Marylawn of the Organges
Montclair Immaculate
Mother Seton Regional High School
Roselle Catholic Regional High School
St. Benedict's Prep
St. Mary's in Elizabeth
St. Patrick's in Elizabeth
Union Catholic Regional High School

Information on all of these institutions was shared.

Grade 8 Meeting

Tonight Hillside Catholic Academy will conduct a meeting for our Grade 8 parents. The following topics will be discussed;
1. The COOP Examination
2. Fund Raising
3. The Class Trip
4. Graduation

This meeting and communication with our students is all part of the, "quality education in a faith based environment," offered at Hillside Catholic Academy.

"Theme for the Year"

Each year the Catholic schools of the Archdiocese of Newark are asked to develop a theme for the year. The theme for Hillside Catholic Academy this year is, "Witness to the gospel in thought, word, and deed." We will be living our theme in our worship services, our charity drives, and our actions towards each other. Living our theme is part of "the quality education in a faith based environment," that is Hillside Catholic Academy.

Future Musicians

Hillside Catholic Academy hosted an Assembly. This program was conducted by Mr. Claude Washington the Director of Music. Mr. Washington will conduct the Hillside Catholic Academy orchestra. The various instruments were explained to the students.
Hillside Catholic Academy offers the program as part of the, "quality education," the school provides.

"School is now open"

Hillside Catholic Academy is now open for it's 5th year. This year the following changes have been made to our school.
1. A new code of discipline has been put into place.
2. A new schedule has been devised for Grades 6,7,8
3. A new Multipurpose room has been created for Grades 5,6,7,8
4. The gym floor has been taken down to bear wood and refinised
5. The cafeteria face lift has continued.

All of these changes will help Hillside Catholic Academy to continue to provide, "a quality education in a faith based environment."

Faculty Orientation

Today the faculty of Hillside Catholic Academy reports for duty. The faculty of Hillside Catholic Academy consists of dedicated men and women. All are certified teachers in the state of New Jersey or are working towards their certificaiton. The theme of this school year is, "Witness to the gospel in thought, word and deed."
