Hillside Catholic Acadmey is launching a new program. "Be A Buddy Not A Bully," is a program put forward by Mrs. Angela Vasil Student Government Advisor. The students signed a large poster promising to fight bullying.

"Saints Alive"

On November 1 Hillside Catholic Academy celebrated All Saints Day with our 'Saints Alive' Assembly. The members of our Grade 5 class took the role of their favorite saint and told the school about them. This celebration has been part of our school tradition since the opening of our school.

"Success"

Hillside Catholic Academy students Jordan Hamilton and Kenya Jacobs gave impressive performances at the 39th Roselle Catholic Scholastic Olympiad. Jordan finised 2nd in the English competition. Kenya finised 3rd in Current Events.

"Breast Cancer Awareness"

Yesterday was "Breast Cancer Awareness Day" at Hillside Catholic Academy. The students were allowed to, 'dress down', and make a contribution towards research for finding a cure to this disease. To this date we have raised $400.

"C.S.I.Benedictine"

On Saturday September 25 five Hillside Catholic Academy grade 8 students took part in Benedictine Academy's C.S.I. Day. The girls were taken to a crime scene and had to determine what took place. The Hillside Catholic Academy team placed fourth out of thirteen teams, and finished second among Catholic schools.

Last night Hillside Catholic Academy hosted the Hillside Chamber of Commerce. The members were given tours of the school by the members of the Executive Board of the Student Council. They were impressed by our building and our students.

"Grade 8 Finals"

This week our Grade 8 students will take their final tests. These tests cover the material covered during the Third Trimester. The final tests account for 20% of the final Third Trimester grade.

"Working at the Car Wash"

"Earth Day"

Hillside Catholic Academy celebrted 'Earth Day' today. The students were able to dress down in their 'Earth Day' t-shirts and jeans. They also were in a contest to name a stuffed hawk. Our Kindergarten class won the contest. Our Grade 8, 7 and 2 students planted as part of their celebration.

On April 20, 2010 Hillside Catholic Academy conducted The Sixth Annual Dare Graduation. This course teaches the students the dangers of drug use. It taught each year to our Grade 5 students.

Hillside Catholic Academy's K through Grade 3 students recently took in a performance of, "Frog and Toad." This was at the Paper Mill Play House in Millburn, New Jersey. The students enjoyed the performance.

"Busy Day"

Today is a most busy day. Our students in Grades K, 1,2,3 and 4 will be taking part in an assembly on recycling put on by the, "Peppermint Puppets." This is provided by the Hillside Recycling Department. Our Grade 5,6,,7, 8 students will be going to Union Catholic Regional High School to see their spring musical. A most busy day.

"Closing Liturgy"

Today Hillside Catholic Academy will close our Catholic School Week celebration. The Most Rev. Dominic Marconi will celebrate our First Friday Mass. He will be the main celebrant. The pastors of Christ the King and St. Catherine of Sienna parishes will be the concelebrants. Following the liturgy the students who achieved Honor Roll status will receive their certificates.

"Spirit Day and Pep Rally"

Today is Spirit Day at Hillside Catholic Academy. The students are allowed to dress down in the school colors of green and gold. In the afternoon the Pep Rally will take place.

Today Grades 5,6,7,8 will take part in a Career Day Assembly. Four speakers will discuss the role Catholic schools have played in shaping their lives. They will also speak about their careers and field questions. These presentations will show the 'Dividends For Life' provided by our Catholic schools.

"Dividends For Life"

Today Hillside Catholic Academy will continue our celebration of Catholic School Week. The theme of this year is, "Catholic Schools Providing Dividends For Life." We will set the theme of the week with our morning assembly. Students will read poems, speeches, and other inspirational quotes. Later this afternoon the students will be treated to ice cream sundaes.

On Tuesday January 12 Sr. Pat Butler SC from the Archdiocese Office of Education came for her annual visit. Sr. Pat toured the school and visited with Mr. Michael Butchko. It was a very good visit!!

"Middle States Evaluation Visit"

The Chair of Hillside Catholic Academy's Middle States Evaluation Team has been named. It is Mrs. Andrea F. Triner from Our Lady of Calvary School in Philadelphia,PA. The team will be visiting the school in late April of this year.
