"Election 2008"

On Tuesday October 29 Hillside Catholic Academy conduted a 'mock General Election.' Thanks to the Union County Board of Elections an actual voting machine came to the school. The students were able to cast their votes for the major party candidates for President of the United States. 207 votes were cast. Senator Obama received 177 votes. Senator McCain received 30 votes. An exercise like this is part of the , "quality education," at Hillside Catholic Academy.

"Halloween Party"

On Saturday October 25 Hillside Catholic Academy hosted, "The Fifth Annual Hillside Catholic Academy Halloween Party." This event was possible because of the Hillside Catholic Academy H.S.A. Students in Grades Pre-K, 1,2,3,4,and 5 came in costumes. They played games, trick or treated, ate pizza, and had a great time! This type of social event is all part of the, "quality education," at Hillside Catholic Academy.

"Halloween Dance"

This evening Hillside Catholic Academy conducted "The Second Annual Hillside Catholic Academy Halloween Dance." Over forty 6th, 7th, and 8th Graders danced to the song provided by a DJ from "Prime Entertainers". This event was run by our Grade 7 parents. A great time was enjoyed by all.

"Success!"

At the Roselle Catholic Academic Olympiad on October 22 Hillside Catholic Academy students performed quite well.

2nd Place in English Kimberly Ferarra
2nd Place in Science Danielle Hamilton

These results are all testimony to the hard work of the students and teachers at Hillside Catholic Academy and the, "quality education," that the schoool provides.

"Sr. Joan"

Yesterday Hillside Catholic Academy was visited by Sr. Joan Amelia Ferruggiano S.S.J. Sister Joan is an Assistant Superintendent of Schools for Union County. During her visit Sister Joan visited the classrooms and then met with Mr. Butchko.
The close working relationship between the school and the School Office is another reason Hillside Catholic Academy is able to offer, "a quality education in a faith based environment."

"Fire Prevention Week"

This week to celebrate "Fire Prevention Week" Hillside Catholic Academy was visited by the Hillside Fire Department. Grades K, 1,2, viewed how a fire truck works. They also received information about fire safety. Being part of the community is all part of the "quality education" at Hillside Catholic Academy.

"Family Math"

"Family Math," will come to Hillside Catholic Academy for the next three Wednesdays. A program of the U.C.E.S.A., 10 families from Grades 3,4,5 will do various types of Math problems. It is unique, it is educational, and it is ALOT OF FUN!!!! Progarms like "Family Math" are all part of the, "quality education in a faith based environment," at Hillside Catholic Academy.

"Professional Development"

Today the members of the Hillside Catholic Academy faculty attended a day on professional development. The topic of today's meeting was, "Technology in the Elementary School." The keynote speakers were Sr. Percylee Hart R.S.M. Principal of Union Catholic Regional High School and Ms. Karen Piasecki Associate Principal.

"Pumpkin Picking"

Today Hillside Catholic Academy's Grades K,1,2,3 will go on a pumpkin picking trip. The students will travel to Wrightman Farm in Morristown, New Jersey. This is fifth time the school has made this trip.

"St. Francis of Assisi Day"

Today Hillside Catholic Academy will celebrate St. Francis of Assisi Day. The students have been encouraged to bring in their stuffed animals and pictures of their pets. Friars from the Franciscan Friary in Newark, New Jersey will come to bless the animals and talk about St. Francis. This type of day is part of the, "faith based environment," at Hillside Catholic Academy.

"Street Fair"

Hillside Catholic Academy prides itself on being part of the Hillside Community. Today at the Second Annual Hillside Street Fair we had a table. This is all part of, "the quality education in a faith based environment," at Hillside Catholic Academy.
